01/04/2009: IBERDROLA RENOVABLES brings the Radona I and Radona II wind farms in SORIA on stream

IBERDROLA RENOVABLES has brought the Radona I and Radona II wind farms in the towns of Adradas and Alcubilla de las Peñas in the province of Soria on stream. They will have combined installed capacity of 56 MW.
The new facilities required an investment of €25.1 million and were built by IBERDROLA RENOVABLES CASTILLA Y LEÓN, whose main shareholder is IBERDROLA RENOVABLES.
The two wind farms were built in 19 months. Radona I has 12 wind turbines, each with an output of 2 MW, giving a total capacity of 24 MW. Radona II has 16 similar turbines, affording it a total capacity of 32 MW.
IBERDROLA RENOVABLES evacuates the electric power from these two facilities into the grid via the Medinaceli sub-station. They will have the capacity to produce enough electricity to supply an equivalent of 26,135 households a year.
The IBERDROLA subsidiary is the renewables leader in Castilla y León, with an installed capacity at the end of 2008 of more than 980 MW, of which 905 MW are installed in 35 wind farms and another 76 MW in 31 mini-hydro plants.
The Company invested €1,260 million in this region between 2002 and 2008,
underscoring its commitment to the area and its decisive role in making it
benchmark in the development of clean energy sources.
